Mr. Haas,

You and I have had a discussion on your article "Living off the Government". While I disagreed with many of your points on that article I have to say I agree 100% with your analysis in this article. We all contributed to this situation whether we like to admit it or not. Taking responsibility for ones own actions is one of the most difficult things for a human to do. However, I will admit I enjoy the selective ignorance to an extent because eventually lack of responsibility will bring us back down to earth and in the end it creates great opportunities for those of us who are prepared.

I could not disagree more.

First, to suggest that all recent home-buyers and credit card borrowers are somehow guilty in the financial meltdown is downright nuts.

None of this would have happened if people were responsible paid their debts. Borrowing money is voluntary. There is no such thing as predatory lending. Borrower ignorance is no defense.

Profits are not evil, and in a true free market, self-interest ("greed" if you prefer) is not destructive.

And just as a note: you will probably be a more successful author if you don't make accusations towards your readers.
