Something really scary happened today in St. Paul, Minnesota. Upwards of 10,000 people, many of them declared anarchists, violently protested the Republican National Convention.
By “violent” I mean they were “smashing cars, puncturing tires and throwing bottles in confrontations with pepper-spray wielding police who arrested at least five people.” Further, “a handful of people were arrested for lighting a dumpster on fire and pushing it into a police car.”
America must remain a tolerant environment in which opposing political views are allowed to enter peaceful public debate.
Attempting to violently halt an opposition party event is one critical step towards the death of our democracy.
