@Ornery Conservative - Human nature is always to desire power over others. This is certainly not true for everyone, but every society has a core group of leaders-people who consider themselves worthy of orchestrating the lives of others.

Everyone has their own incentives and motivations, so it's tough to classify every leader into a nice category. Some crave power for financial gain, others for status, and yet others simply for the sake of having it. Nonetheless, the outcome is the erosion of personal sovereignty and a trend towards servitude.

Let's not forget that every dollar spent on "stimulus" or whatever by government has to first be confiscated from someone in the private sector.

There are plenty of clear heads out there; unfortunately for us, very few of them are in Washington. It's like Daniel Hannan of England said "you can't eat yourself thin or drink yourself sober" which is exactly what so many world leaders are doing. It makes you wonder if they are really that obtuse or do they serve other interests???

@Justin - Right, the People will be angry that at least one politician doesn't pay lip service to their demands.

New Zealand is coming off a leftist binge that nearly bankrupted them. John Key represents a new, free future for the country. I look forward to seeing how it progresses!
